LAUNCH AUTHOR Q&A
Q1: Tammy’s Big Adventure Vol 1 is your very first photography book collection. How do you feel about it all? Tammy: I'm feelng great thank you, really excited about the publication, I'm really proud that my photographs and knowledge is being shared with a wider audience with my first ever book. Q2: How did the book come about? Tammy: It was a discussion with you at Dreams Edge, having seen my pics and where I go to on here, we thought my talents could be taken to a different audience, and thus my Big Adventures was pitched, my love of transport being central to it Q3: The first volume of a trilogy of photo books I believe, what are the other collections about? Tammy: Indeed it is, my main subjects are Planes, Trains, Automobiles, so we have the Trains first, there's a Military Aircraft one next, and a Racing Car one to follow, lots of surprises in the 3 books Q4: 4.Who do you think will enjoy your photography books? Tammy: I think transport enthusiasts, and those with a general appreciation of the subject, it tells a story with each picture, even a reference book for plastic modelling enthusiasts. It's a journey through my hobby in colour. Q5: 5.So not just trainspotters then lol. Do you love trains? Any famous trains like to see or go on? Tammy: Definitely, photography in general is something that should be celebrated any any form. I love trains alot, not just the journey but some of the trains used, I've been lucky to see some of the greats from this country, Mallard, Flying Scotsman to name a couple. Q6: 6.What or who inspired you to take up photography in the first place. Tammy: My Dad was the main driving force behind getting me into photography, he taught me alot of tips and tricks, and I learn from him alot, and he is sometimes my sidekick on my trips Q7: 6.What or who inspired you to take up photography in the first place. Tammy: There are a few that inspire me, Jeff Bloxham the Motorsport Photographer, and there are a few that sadly aren't with us, Arthur Gibson was a renowned Aviation Photographer from when I was younger his work in Air to air was second to known Q8: 8.How do you plan your photography books, and going on adventures so to speak? Tammy: A lot of it begins with collating all my pics of one subject and getting the best ones marked in so to speak, planning is sometimes spontaneous especially if it's local, but others is well in advance, once I'm there it's a case of go get them. Q9: 9.Is there anywhere in the world you’d like to go to take photos? Tammy: I have family in Canada and there are so many places out there I can visit to take pics of their transport... and my other passion scenery, mountains, rivers, lakes, one day I'll get there Q10: Are there any famous people you’d like to photograph, do a shoot with? Tammy: Surprisingly there are a lot of celebrities that are into the hobbies I am into, musicians with aircraft is something I would love to do, Gary Numan and Bruce Dickinson spring to mind. Q11: Would you like to have you own photography studio one day or do more traveling? Tammy: That would be a dream for me, I can develop my skills on a further way, travelling to new destinations is my passion, I've got plans for this year already, going to old haunts and new destinations Q12: Your family and friends have been very supportive with your photography and your life in general is there anyone in particular you’d like to thank? Tammy: I'm very lucky to have encouragement from many corners, my parents are very supportive and are in some ways my initial reviewers, but also my followers on my socials, they are always very kind to me and give me inspiration for destinations. So I thank you all Q13: Do you have other plans for more photography books other than travel? Tammy: There are few I have thought of, even something like pub signs, they are art in themselves, and something that could be fun, one Kings Head is another's Queens Arms Q14: I know you like cars a lot, any ambitions to go to any big car events or drive in any events, British Grand Prix? Tammy: I love cars a lot, I've been lucky to of been to the British GP, Le Mans, and Goodwood FOS, I've seen Indycars, Nascars, and most of the UK motorsport classes, been to the Norisring and Zandvoort to see racing abroad too, I've also had a fast ride in a two seat Nascar Q15: What advice would you give to young photographers or people interested in taking up photography? Tammy: My best advice is to start with either an entry level camera, I used to use the disposable ones to begin with, have an experiment with pics, with phones having cameras nowadays, you can do so much with them, share the ones you are proud of on social media, get noticed Q16: Do you have a photo capture list? Things, people places? Tammy: Yes and no, a lot is luck and others are research into what's there, museums are an easy one, but airfields, racetracks and trains are potluck, but I get an idea of what I would like to see and capture it Q17: Would you like one day to give up any day job and take up photography full time? Tammy: I think the beauty of photography is something you can do anytime, full time is the dream, but it can be a waiting game to get commissions, but as a hobby it is a good thing to take yourself away from the 9 to 5. Q18: Would you ever use a film camera and think of making movies? Tammy: I have used film cameras before I got my Nikon D3400, more of a trying out my technique thing, movies is something I do with my mobile phone, there is a lot you can do with those, Q19: And if so what kind, documentaries, fashion? Tammy: Documentaries are very interesting to me, I watch a lot on the net, and I reckon I could do a few of my own, I research a lot before I go places and learn little facts about them too, so I can set the scene Q20: What is your next adventure and when do you plan to share it with us? Tammy: My adventures can be anything from off to a regular haunt of mine for the day, or even a tipoff from a friend depends a lot on many factors, I’ve got a new to me destination in the summer, watch this space.
